Site Description: Located in Riverside Park along the Woonasquatucket Greenway in the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence, this site is classified as an infiltration basin, which is a low vegetated depression that fills with stormwater during rain events. Stormwater enters the site from the Riverside Park parking lot, either as runoff or drainage. The basin fills up and accumulates water during rain events, while the soil, grass, and plants inside act as a filtering mechanism to clean pollutants from the stormwater. When the system reaches full capacity, excess stormwater flows into the next linear bioswale. The captured stormwater should absorb into the soil within 24-48 hours after a rainstorm.
Photo-Video Tips: Stand near the edge of the parking lot to capture video of stormwater flowing into the basin from the parking lot. Verify that stormwater is filling up and draining properly within the infiltration basin with video.
